5 for Friday - August 17
This week has kicked my ass. I still have not recovered from my rocking weekend in New Orleans. I got home Sunday night --which was also my daughter's birthday-- and after groceries, homework, laundry, etc, I made it to bed around 1:30. I was back up at 6:30, getting the kids ready for school and jumping back into the work week. A smart person would have taken Monday off. Clearly, I am not a smart person. I am, however, slowly getting back into my regular schedule of books, Twitter, and dirty-man Tumblr. The Gods are smiling on me.
5. While I was away, the lovely Patty Briggs revealed the cover for her next Mercy Thompson book, Frost Burned.
Shapeshifter Mercy
Thompson's life is calming down, at least enough that she can focus on
mundane matters like Black Friday sales. But on her return, Mercy is
unable to contact her mate, Alpha Adam Hauptman, or the other members of
their pack. All she knows is that Adam is angry and in pain.
With the werewolves fighting a political battle to gain acceptance from the public, Mercy fears Adam's disappearance may be related - and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outclassed and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from the most unlikely of allies: the vampire seethe.

I am really excited to read this one. I can't wait to see the repercussions from the end of the last Alpha & Omega book. It's going to be awesome. Frost Burned comes out March 5th.
4. Amanda Carlson was one of the lovely authors I met at AAD last week. Her debut, Full Blooded is out in September. (More on that in a bit.) She's already got cover art for book two, Hot Blooded.
Her mate has been kidnapped by a Goddess hell-bent on revenge — but
Jessica is playing for keeps.Because she’s the only female werewolf in
town…it comes with its own set of rules…and powers.
Aided by two vamps, two loyal Pack members, and one very reluctant
human, Jessica must rescue her man while coming to terms with what being
a wolf really means. All in a day’s work for a girl.
The second novel in the Jessica McClain series is a full on action
adventure featuring one angry Goddess and plenty of monsters, demons,
and a few newly risen beasties…
Ewa de Cruz is so gorgeous. I want to look like her in my next life. Hot Blooded releases in April 2013. To win your very own copy of Full Blooded, fill out the Rafflecopter form below.
3. Everyone tells me that Downtown Abbey is must-see-tv. Unfortunately, I missed all the buzz until season two was almost over. But the trailer is out for season three and now I am wondering if I should jump on the bandwagon. Do I need to rent seasons one and two? Give me some deets on the appeal.
(The site hosting the season three trailer took it down. This video has clips from season two.)
2. It's about time. The Price is Right is inviting a male model to Come on Down. The show is doing a casting call to become the show's first male showcase model. A web series will document the casting process. I don't know about you, but I think this is long overdue. Who doesn't want to see a hot dude openly caressing a washing-machine or some luggage?

1. And this one little piece of random. It may not be politically correct, but I will go to my grave loving this song. Check out Baby Got Back, Sung by the Movies.
XOXO,
Jen
P.S. I have no idea how to work this link into today's post, but when I read the article, I laughed so hard that I cried and my stomach hurt. I have to share it. (Warning - Potty Humor)

Yes, you need to watch Downton Abby!!! It's sooooo good. :)
Also - I'm always up for a fab fart story. I love that her 'rack' saved her. ahahahaha
I cannot wait for the Next Mercy Thompson book! While the last one was o.k., it left me wanting SO much more. Hopefully, since we've had to wait this long for Frost Burned, it will knock our socks off ♥
Great 5 - I am in love with the new Mercy cover. Also ZOMG WATCH DOWNTON ABBEY!! SRSLY!!
I laughed so hard reading that fart story, everyone in the newsroom was staring at me. I couldn't stop laughing long enough to try to explain.
I loved the ending of Fair Game, so I can't wait to see the fallout!
I know everyone says it's good. But the promos/ casting/ etc are not making me excited. The only reason I am even thinking about it is the huge word-of-mouth reaction I've heard from people.
I still don't know what it is about it that everyone loves. They just keep saying that it's great.
I have never watched Downton Abbey, I think I need to check it out!!
Maybe we should both try it and compare notes.
Seriously I would never watch something on PBS Masterpiece theater, I'm not high brow enough LOL. I had 0 interest in it, like you, but watched it bc everyone told me to, and I devoured the series. It's that good.
Patricia Briggs is one of my favorite authors so I'm ALWAYS looking forward to her latest books! Thanks for the cover reveal! :D
Excellently done stock photo merge! I know some publishers go should hire you!
It still seems so far away, though. :(
LOLOLOL. It's so cheesy! But you are kind to say otherwise. :P
That Baby Got Back video was freakin awesome! Great editing.
The new series by Amanda Carlson sounds good! I'd love to try it!
I love the Baby Got Back video. I wonder how long it took to put together. So creative and funny.
Love the covers of Amanda's books and the new Mercy cover is awesome! March if far to far away! The video is great too!
Would love to read Full Blooded...will put on TBR list. Can't wait for more Mercy!!!
When I heard about that about the Price is right,I thought it was odd..Then thought, Its about time! :) Don't know how well it'll appeal to the audience,I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Thanks for the giveaway.
Are the Alpha and Omega books going to cross more with this Mercy book? I'm confused.
I have it in my Netflix instant queue and haven't started it yet. If you start it let me know!!!
OMG I was scrolling down to comment about how awesome the Baby Got Back video is (I shared it on my Facebook...) and THEN I saw your link to the fart story. Holy crap I just laughed so hard my face hurts and there were tears involved. "ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW!!!!"
Yes. The last Alpha and Omega had a huge ending that will carry over into the Mercy world.
Good luck on the giveaway!
I loved it too!
I can only imagine that it took forever!! But it's so cool! And it gets stuck in your head for days.
Much too far away. So many great books coming out next year!
Me either. It's been so long since the last one. But Fair Game rocked!
I read it at work and laughed so hard that everyone was staring at me. I got an ab-workout on that one.
I was thinking I might catch up on Downtown Abbey too before the new season.
That video was the best thing I've seen all week. OMG! Thank you for finding that! What an amazing piece!
OMG, I just saw the comment about the fart story so I went back and clicked the link, that was hysterical!!
I can't wait for frost burned!!!
Patricia Briggs is one of my favorites. I love the new Mercy Thompson cover.
“It was your rack that saved you,” ROFL. Lordy, that was funny.
Regarding Patricia Briggs, is there any way we can get her some household help or something so she can WRITE FASTER???!!! and that is one beautiful cover.
I love acquiring new authors to read this looks to be a keeper.
Loved the video. I have had this author on my list, need to get with it and read faster, lol Thanks for the chance.
Downton Abbey is awesome! If you are an amazon prime member you can watch it there.
