Review: Beast - A Faery Story 2

Dante’s story picks up a few years after Bound, so expect the return of some old friends, and some unexpected ones too. If you’ve not read the first Faery Book, it’s not too late but this story still flows very well all on it’s own.

Blurb: Fresh from his latest scandal, vampire playboy Dante Dellacourt has been given an ultimatum – take a consort and settle down or be disowned.

Exiled by her pack, the werewolf Kaja is stolen from her frozen plane and awakens in a foreign world. Frightened and alone, she savagely fights for her freedom.

When Dante and his Fae cousins are called to defend the gnomes of the marketplace from their feral prize, he discovers that Kaja glows like no other consort he has ever seen. Exotic and wild, her body calls to him in ways he had not dreamed possible.

In order to claim his werewolf, he must first tame this ferocious beauty. But to earn her submission, will Dante be forced to unleash his inner beast?

Review: I really enjoyed Dante’s character from Bound and I was super excited to read his story (my curiosity was piqued, I wanted to see how kinky he could get as there were some glimpses, and oh boy does he ever). However, what I really enjoyed about Dante in this story was that we read why and how he grows up to be a Beast. We know his reasons for growing up and his actions that support his growth. He went from being his Dad’s ‘boy’ to a man of worth.

I had Kaja’s back the entire way; there was such a wonderful evolution of her character. From being exiled from her pack to her eventual acceptance to being a person of worth. There’s a lot she has to go through, and we learn of her past life mostly in flashbacks making it all the more harsh. These flashbacks explain how she became indifferent to her wellbeing and self-worth; what’s even more wonderful is that we see the rise of her self-worth and self-acceptance through flashbacks.

Now on to the good stuff, the chemistry between Dante and Kaja is off-the-chain, super-duper HOT! The sex scenes between them is even better after Dante comes into a trait that these vampires seem to thrive on – possessiveness over their consorts. That hunk of man meat is seriously kinky and he ain’t afraid of using toys on his woman either. I’m not kidding folks, I had to have a glass of water handy when I was reading some of those scenes.

I can’t wait for next one in the series. According to the author’s site, Beauty - A Faery Story 3 is coming June 15, 2012.
