Guest Post & Giveaway: Amber Kallyn

PNR author Amber Kallyn is here, talking about fate... and giving us the skinny on her new book BloodStorm.  Please help me welcome her to the blog!

Fate or luck?

I grew up watching Disney movies like most little girls. While I never got the whole ‘wait in your tower until studly rides up and saves you’ heroines, I adore knights in shining armor.

Finally movies and books started to get on track. Heroines changed from helpless, waiting princess into independent women who have no problems kicking butt all on their own.

I was caught.

As I grew older and stumbled into that horrid stage known as the teenage years, romance novels became my guidepost for love. Every time a hero or heroine met their soul mate, they just knew they’d found the other half--even if they tried to run or got dragged into it kicking and screaming :)

Finding the one person for you can be a difficult feat in such a huge world, but oh so rewarding. And for me, reading about characters finding their soul mate, overcoming all odds and falling in love totally rocks.

Recently I’ve seen discussions on how some romance writers get their characters to meet. Some call it luck, others call it Fate.

To me, it’s all the same. Call it Fate, destiny, Chance or Luck.

All romances center around two people finding each other among the millions of bodies on this--or whatever planet they may be on. These two individuals are right for each other, and no one else.

And to me, one of the reasons I love romances so much is that it’s no longer the pretty little ‘Oh, you rescued me’ ending, but both parties have to go through many trials and changes in order to be worthy of this love.

So my Question for You: What’s your opinion on Fated Mates?

A vampire must choose between love... or her revenge.

When duty forces a shaman to stop a vampire from her revenge, love doesn’t just burn... it bites.

For two hundred years, Niki DeVeraux has been tracking the monster who murdered her family and made her a vampire. She finally catches up to him only to face more than she bargained for in a too-sexy sheriff who makes her remember she’s still a woman. With duties as Keeper of the peace and Sheriff, Shane Spencer must protect humanity and stop the friction between the local Arcaine races before it turns into an all out blood war.

When wolves start turning up dead, the tension between the races grows and suspicion falls on Niki. Shane knows she’s not to blame, and it has nothing to do with the primal urges she stirs within him. Working together, they must stop the hostilities from going over the edge. Trouble is, the desires raging between them might prove more dangerous than the surrounding threats.

Bio:

One of those rare breeds, Amber Kallyn is an Arizona native who can trace her family's history through six generations in the state. She lives with her sexy husband, and their four very active children. Included in the menagerie are two cats (though there's always room for more) and two dogs. We won't count all the fish.

Amber loves the paranormal, from dragons to werewolves to vampires. She's currently at work on her next book, probably running around the house acting out a fight scene with her collection of swords and daggers. Or maybe, wishing she had claws to practice the other fight scenes.

A voracious lover of the written word, Amber found at an early age that she could read fast. Really fast. She devours novels by the day, novellas by the hour, and is always looking to get her hands on more.

I'm not again true soulmates but it's not because two people are soulmates that their relation is easy. They have to learn about each other, learn to trust each other because love is something that take time it can be immediat attraction but i think love is different even if both are made for each other they have to discover it thanks what make the story interesting for me.

Hi Isabelle,
I agree with you. Just because Fate might be helping out, it's up to the characters to figure things and make them work :)
Thanks for stopping by.

Very nice post. I like reading about fated mates. I think it's great when they finally accept the mate that fate picked for them.

I think it's allways interesting when you have more than one type of supernatural creature in paranormal books, cause it adds a new dimension with regards to how the different species intereact.
Sherrif Shane sounds really sexy, can't wait to find out more about him! :)

I'm not sure I believe in soul mates but it does take fate or luck (or both!) to draw two people together even if circumstances says they should be a part.
Thanks for the giveaway!

I LOVE the Fated mates stories! They are my favorite. There is just something that draws those 2 individuals together whether it be chance, fate, luck, etc., they are all the same to me also. In real life, however, it does not always work out that way. I love those HEA! Even though I have mine, they still pull me in. :)

Congrats, Amber D!
