Review: Special Kind of Woman

The cover on this book is as hot as I’ve seen in a long time – it deserves its own review and rating, but not today.

Plain Jane Regina Talbot works in the mail-room in the same building where Collin Noonan is a member of the executive team. Collin and some of the men on the executive team take part in a childish and callous contest every year. They pick a ‘shy, homely and undesirable’ woman, romance her, get her to like them, and then parade her at a party where a winner is picked. What a bunch of window-licking Neanderthals.

The premise had great promise and I was really looking forward to this new-to-me author’s take on the topic. But I felt totally let down by Regina and Collin.

Regina’s worked for the company for nine months and she’s known of Collin for approximately the same length of time. She always thought he was attractive, but with her self-esteem issues as low as they are, she never thought that he would ever find her attractive. Well guess what? He didn’t think she was attractive, but he had a contest to win and by golly gee whiz he’s going to win it with her. He does what he always has in the past to win the contest – except this time he finds himself falling in love with Regina. I didn’t see what or how he fell in love with Regina, there wasn’t anything there that told me he ever saw the real her.

Collin is such a crass ASSHOLE, I have no idea how Regina could find it in her head or heart to forgive him, much less claim to love him. You would think that if he’s so in love with her that he wouldn’t take her to the party to be included in the contestants – oh no, he took her. You’ve got to be effing kidding me that this is okay if I just say “I’m sorry”, that’s so weak. Regina was much smarter in the beginning of the book than she was at the end. Collin had no redeeming qualities whatsoever and I never saw that he had any true remorse for his actions.

Happy Reading Folks!
