Q. Do you judge a book by its cover?
The cover doesn't make me by the book. It might make me pick it up and read the back, though. It's the summary blurb that makes me decide whether to buy and ultimately read a book

I agree, I won't buy a book just because of the cover. I am drawn to the pretty ones though, and will pick them up to see what they are about. :)
I'm just the opposite the cover draws me in and then the summary is what keeps me interested.
Hi happy friday! Thanks for stopping by.
Love the header and the name! Happy FF, new follower. I don't read the summary i like the surprise its all in the cover for me. http://readswithwrecklessabandon.blogspot.com
Hi, visiting from Hands and Home. I love your answer to this weeks FF questions - so true!
I agree! A cover makes me pick up a book, but reviews, and content make me buy it and read it.

I agree with you, the cover might get my attention, but if the story doesn't sound appealing then I won't read it.
Thanks for stopping by! I'm actually an old(ish) follower :) Found you a week or so ago I think. Have a great weekend!
Hi, Jen. Thanks for stopping by. It's hard to pass up those pretty covers. There have been a lot of them, especially lately. It's too bad that they don't always reflect the quality of the content! Happy Friday!

Aha! A synopsis, girl, eh? I hear you, sister! But I confess to being a shameless cover girl!
*hugs* and have a great weekend!!!!
Yes, I surely do judge a book by the cover. Not always but more often then not. I'm known for not reading synopsis so if your cover doesn't show me what I want to know or if someone doesn't recommend it... chances are I'm reading someone else's book.
Please do stop by for a crumpet, find out about a new MeMe & to check out my newest giveaway :)

Hopping through. The summary is the most important thing for me too, although a good cover helps.

I was just blogging about this the other day - I definitely judge a book by its cover! IT's funny, because I don't usually do that with people, but with books? That's a whole other story. Anyways, thanks for the post, very thought-provoking! :)

Hi Jen
Thanks for the follow from Follow me Friday I'm already one of your followers, we have similar taste in books!
Hi Jen! New follower here.
For me, it is the cover and the title that tempt me to read the blurb. If the blurb reads great, I'll grab the book. I remember the first time I saw Harry Potter's book covers, I was like, O_o...not sure if I liked them. Love the inside but the covers weren't really to my tastes.
Happy Follow Friday!!!

A pretty cover is a plus point for me, but the backside blurb must also catch my attention. If both the cover and the backside is awesome, then that would be great! But i do own some books that have awful covers but the blurb is amazing! So I guess it really depends for me.

Just hopping by...I agree, if the book is good, who cares what the cover looks like. But if I'm browsing around a bookstore, I always pick up the books with prettier covers.
Check out my Follow Friday Post and some of my favorite cover designs.
I agree, the cover attracts you to the book.
stop and see mine and my giveaway.
I agree! It will get me to pick up a book but not automatically buy it. I'm already a follower. My FF is at Coffee Table Reviews
Hi! New follower here. Your man candy section cracks me up! Love it.

I think we can all agree that even the most beautiful book cover can't sell a book if the writing's not there. Book cover art may, at best, help steer me in the book's direction (especially if I'm in a book store) but it's not going to hypnotize me into buying it right then and there.
I expound on all the marketing qualities of a good book. Just follow me back to my book blog - http://www.howardsherman.net

That's very open-minded of you to consider a book more on the blurb than the cover. It seems like many people won't even pick up an ugly book. Poor ugly books.
Happy Follow Friday! I'm a new follower. I hope you'll check out my blog too!

At first glance, yes. I'm either instantly drawn in or repelled by a books cover. If someone recommends a book or I'm able to read an excerpt that successfully captures my interest, then I can overlook the cover. However, first glances do matter. If the cover is pretty aweful, I might not take the time to read the excerpt.

I often don't even look at a cover for a book, and have a bad memory for what the covers of the books I have read look like. Sometimes I'll pick up a book, not recognize it, buy it, and only after I'm fifty pages in realize I already own it. That's why I use my master list when I buy books now.

Hello! Thanks for dropping by my blog, Novel Addiction! It's great to meet you, and I hope you're having a great weekend. Yes, ultimately the summary of the book/what it's about will make me buy it, but if the book has a terrible cover, I'm less likely to pick it up and even look at the back. Which is terrible of me. :(
Have a great day! New follower here.
